Large abstractions that appear to be complex, but are actually quite easy to whip out. That's what sells in these parts. Sold through the interior design system.
Let me clarify. Let's say you walk into a shabby chic boutique where everything is painted white and you're shopping for some things to put in your summer cottage, something to hang next to the chalkboard you bought at pottery barn, would you buy this owl "print" or a taco?
That owl keeps staring at me. . . its freaking me out. Are the tortillas hand made?
Say what you will, I'm going to give the owl a chance. I have of birds. Don't stop me. My next post however will be about steam cleaning.
*book*. I have a book of birds.
Oh. I thought you had birds for a second or two. It seemed....strange.
A book of birds does not seem strange.
This owl has an awkwardness and eerie palette which I like. Not sure it's slick enough to fly (ha) with the masses.
Nothing I do is ever slick enough to fly with the masses. That is the problem. Matt once told me everything I did looked like I painted it with one arm caught in my sleeve. I laughed so hard tears came. Just call me, "Slick," from now on.
So like I'm guessing the consensus is, "taco."
You may have something there, for a naive chic market. I hadn't thought of that, and I do know someone who is selling to a similar market, I think. Yes, I could see something like that working, but only if they can become fairly fun to paint. I'd hate for you to gouge out your eyes.
Um, if the pool paintings were done with one arm caught in your sleeve, then keep it up.
I didn't really paint the pool paintings. I hired a professional artist to do those.
Kidding.
I'm one of the masses and I love the owl, it makes me laugh, I hope that's not disheartening, it's funny and demented. The masses might like that along with me, maybe. I'm not so intouch with my cohort. This does not seem to be a very sensitive comment. See, not a sensitive artist, one of the masses.
Thank Elaine. I think he's funny too. Frankly, I could have done a better job with the pine needles. I'm just trying to work on some prototypes for a store. and when I say masses, I really do mean somewhat mass-produced.
I will report back.
